“I
LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE” REVIVAL
Last summer the Chelan Valley Players presented the hilarious musical
revue, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”
to sold out houses at Campbell’s Resort in Chelan. The audiences
just could not get enough of this delightful, adult themed show so
by popular demand, CVP will be offering it to four communities this
June and July.
“I am so excited to have the complete perfect cast return to
their roles; all six actors will be reliving the 20 vignettes,”
says director Judy Johnston. They are from all over central Washington:
CherylAnn Ellingson (Chelan), Jack Reynolds (Manson), Rhonnie Craven
(E. Wenatchee), Joel Yelland (Omak), Robin Andal (Moses Lake) and
Doug Leese (Omak). The effervescent team of Kathryn Castrodale on
keyboard and Kerry Travers on violin return to accompany the cast.
Staff remains the same as well with the addition of a road manager.
The show will travel to Omak’s Rockwall Cellars on June 24th
and 25th, to Wenatchee’s Riverside Playhouse on July 1st and
2nd, to Chelan’s Campbell’s Resort on July 3rd and 4th,
and to Twisp’s Merc Playhouse on July 21st and 22nd. All shows
will be at 7:30 p.m. except for on July 4th when the curtain will
open at 6:30 p.m. You may wish to arrive early to buy a glass of wine
and socialize. All venues will have liquor available. Due to adult
themes, the show is not recommended for children.
To keep it simple, tickets will only be available by calling the CVP
ticket outlet, 509-881-1112. There may be some tickets available at
the door for the larger venues but sell outs last summer left some
people disappointed so Producer Sheryl Smith recommends reserving
your tickets ahead of time. Tickets are on sale from May 1st through
July 22nd.
In 1995, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change”
premiered at New Jersey’s American Stage Company, where, in
the middle of one early performance, a woman in the audience couldn’t
help but blurt out “This is my life!” From that moment
on, the creators knew they were on to something. On August 1st, 1996,
the show opened off-Broadway at the Westside Theater where it had
an extremely long run, closing in 2008
This show is a musical revue containing 20 vignettes about the trials
and tribulations of male/female relationships, from the first “cute
meet” through love, marriage and the baby carriage, to the poignancy
of old age remembrances. Act I takes a joyfully satiric look at being
single in today’s world and Act II turns its attention to the
woes and highs of married life. The tone is comic, the music is frisky
and the pace is peppy – a laughter filled romp through such
familiar territory.
